This last July I decide to try and capture a unique view of a display fireworks show. While this video has been on my Pyrogeeks channel on YouTube for awhile now, I neglected posting it here. So why am I posting this now? Because I am currently prepping for a show tomorrow and was thinking about what I am going to do to improve from this video. I learned lots of things from shooting this video. This next video will look very different as it will be my first time with fireworks in the snow. I am looking forward to it!
CBS did an interesting story with lots of shots Behind The Scenes (BTS) with Grucci. I thought it was funny that they talked about hand firing as if no one still does it that way. While they don’t really talk about anything new to most pyros, there are some very interesting shots which gives us a look into how other groups put together their shows. Not to mention the fireworks are pretty amazing as well. Video Here
Had two great shows for the holiday, one on the 3rd and the other on the 4th. This is raw uncut video from the GoPro. More pictures and videos soon.
Lots of things coming soon. Just about to post a bunch of fireworks coupons. This 4th of July I will be working two display shows and will be posting a lot of pictures along with videos afterwards. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see detailed in the video. Also will be posting a big story and interview about a new pyro training program. Also after the holiday I will be adding alot more links and resources. Check back soon!
Recently a lawsuit was filed against the Discovery Channel. During the filming of a pilot of a new series (Brother in Arms) a contestant was hit by a pyrotechnic device. The contestant unfortunately did not survive and the accident. It appears that there were no permits to use pyrotechnics during filming, and also sounds like the device that caused the death was illegal and untested. Accidents like this can be prevented!
Whenever you are doing proximit fireworks test every device. Follow local laws and regulations, and obtain the proper permits. No one’s life is worth cutting corners.
